I did a short trip out to California last weekend, to visit with two woodturning clubs for demos and a hands-on class. I was amazed at the amount of snow in the Sierra Nevada range, and I realized I had flown over Yosemite National Park when I was looking through my iPhone photos.
I enjoy interacting with members of AAW chapters - they're usually a great bunch of people.
The Sierra Nevada Range has snow!
Flying over Yosemite National Park
Only in California...
I’ve been to a lot of airports in my lifetime, but this is a first. I’ve never before seen a Yoga Room…
Del Monte
I didn’t know that Del Monte was in Sunnyvale, CA.
Fresh orange juice!
My host for the Silicon Valley Woodturners was Mark Koenig. He made fresh orange juice with a Sunbeam Juiceit that he’s had for decades. This was such a sturdy machine, and I wanted one just like it. I have a new juicer, and it always clogs up, but this one didn’t. So, eBay to the rescue - I found one for sale and bought it! It arrived a couple of days after I returned home. Now, if only I could get fresh oranges everyday…
Silicon Valley Woodturners
This was a nice bunch of guys. Diversity could be improved, though - they don’t have more than a couple of women in their club.
Hands-on class
We had a lovely time, remembering what it’s like to play with art…
Your other left...
Dave Vannier was my able assistant.
Success!
I always enjoy the end of the day, when everyone has had a chance to learn how to do pyrography, and two different coloring techniques.
Where have you been?
Margaret, and my other two cats and two dogs, had to check out where my luggage had been.
